As the web host for this website, we do not usually ask for peoples assistance, but we think this story speaks for itself...

"The 24-year-old was attacked on a grassy area above Skinnerburn Road, under the Redheugh Bridge, during the early hours of Monday morning."

Regular readers of this website will recognise the area from the description.

If you can help this inquiry, please do, contact details are in the news article.

All messages posted for inclusion in the Police pages are checked out by a Moderator before appearing openly on the website and we can confirm from the ISP details that the message was genuinely posted by Northumbria Police: had there been doubts it would not have been approved.

We are in the process of arranging for any future messages to be posted by Police Officers who have registered with Gaybod and not to appear as Guests. (Moderator)

I am most suspicious of that message, allegedly from Northumbria Police. The 'gardens' area, as it was known, is to my knowledge no longer a cruising spot, due to the redevelopment of the area. Most people will cruise at the Metroradio Arena, Gateshead side of the river, or some local public toilets. I think that rightly the Bigg Market toilets is a cause for concern as it is bang in the middle of a dense shopping area, and has raised alarms in the local press recently. Nevertheless, I think this posting is someone using scare tactics and not a genuine police message.

The following message has been posted today by Northumbria Police on the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Cruising Information page - original can be seen there.

Northumbria Police have increased patrols in the Bigg Market Toilets and also the Gardens area by the high level bridge due to complaints from the public. Please avoid these areas.
