Guys - we have had to edit some recent messages because they contained details which could possibly identify individuals. This is of particular concern if the message is about a particular named location and persons visiting it: Messages like: I was at XYZ layby today and had a great time with the driver of an ABC truck or 'I called at such-and-such a Motorway Services today and had a good time with the Cleaner' It doesn't need emphasising we hope that there could be dozens of ABC Trucks, and several Cleaners at the location and less thoughtful individuals could assume they were meeting the 'friendly' one when infact they were not!! This, and other advice on messaging are given in the 'Using this Site' page where a general message from the Administrator reads; When writing your messages, please use the same courtesy that you would show when speaking face-to-face with someone. Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated. It's fine to disagree strongly with opinions, ideas, and facts, but always with respect for the other person. Great minds do not always think alike, and that's where the fun is! Also ensure that your message does not include any information which could result in the identification of individuals as such details could result in personal abuse and attack. Things to avoid include personal descriptions, vehicle details, place of employment etc. Also, note that messages express the thoughts of the writers, not the board or its moderators. Please do not post the same message to lots of different areas of the noticeboard. A majority of users use the 'Last Day' function and your message will be found if you make the first line interesting to read. |

EVENTS We seem to be missing an opportunity to advertise local events. If there are events arranged for your area then please post details in the appropriate CRUISING INFORMATION PAGE or alternatively email details to admin@gaybod.com and we will post the details for you. Details for Cornwall Pride in Truro on Saturday 28 August - Bank Holiday Weekend - appear in the Cornwall Cruising Information page |

Where should I post? 'Cruising' or Meet Men section MEET MEN - CONTACT OTHERS and CRUISING LOCATIONS - LOCAL INFORMATION The aim of the Cruising Locations - Local Information Section is to provide information about Cruising Areas - where they are and how to get there for example plus any warnings of problems at those areas. It isn't intended as a place to post messages for arranging a meeting. The Meet Men - Contact others section is available for messages where you would like to meet others. Please do not post the same message in both sections - post it once in the most appropriate section. Duplicate messages will be removed and individuals who constantly post in the least appropriate page will have their messages refused - the process of transferring them is time consuming and should not be necessary |

NOT REGISTERED? WOULD LIKE TO JOIN? Just choose a USERNAME and a PASSWORD, have a valid email address** and then go to: http://boards.gaybod.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-profile.pl?action=register and follow the links. ** Use only a valid and current email address. Registrations often fail because the email address used is not valid, has been disabled or has high security settings which stop mail being received from gaybod.com They often fail because of errors in the address - e.g. .co.uk instead of .com or loa instead of aol and frequently 'hotmail' spelt incorrectly. Check carefully to ensure yours meets the above requirments for a successful registration and be aware that with an email error you will be unable to received Private Messages from other Members. |

A further quick review shows a lot or profiles are blank - particularly in the case of recently joined members!!! Disappointingly as well a number of recently registered members have made errors in listing their email address and are therefore not receiving any private messages and longer standing members have changed their email addresses but not updated their profile. Where mail has been rejected the Username has been set so that at the next login it will be necessary to check and amend or change the email address Check now - Is your profile up-to-date? Does it include your current email address for example? Go to http://boards.gaybod.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-profile.pl follow the links to do a check on your profile and to update it. If you change any details be sure to click on SAVE PROFILE CHANGES before your exit. You can always add extra lines in the profile if you wish - preferences for example, cock size even - whatever you wish |

Spread the word We have posted the message below continuously for the last few weeks and thanks to those who have responded as the number of registered members has shown a good increase - but still room for more. As we say, the more people that read and post the more information and contacts are made available - so make our website known to as many as possible and give them the www.gaybod.com URL to use. ********** Gaybod is a small UK based Gay Website on which you can post as a Guest or register as a Member with some additional facilities - like edit own messages and in the main immediate posting. The more Guys who read and who post the better providing additional information and additional opportunities so, tell those you meet to login into Gaybod, to have a read and if they wish to post their comments. Our URL - www.gaybod.com Looking forward to some results - Guys, do your best to help - as it says above - "Spread the Word". |

Telephone numbers - and yet another reminder!! Contrary to advice given in our 'Using this Site' section mobile/telephone numbers are still being put in messages. Email addresses linked to mobile numbers have also been used. These practices can have unfortunate repercussions and, for your own protection, are not approved. The advice given in the section 'Using this Site' which was posted by the Board Administrator reads as follows: Please do not include phone numbers in your messages. To enable other members and users of the site to contact you please supply an email address. We prefer users not to include phone numbers because: -We do not provide a facility to remove messages posted, if you change your mind your message could remain on line for sometime. -Occasionally individuals post vindictive messages including other peoples phone numbers. All cases are investigated and information supplied to the originators ISP regarding the offence on request, wasting valuable time which could be used in developing this site. -If you do wish to include a phone number please include it in a member profile, where email addresses are verified. The above also applies to email addresses attached to mobile numbers. For your own protection please accept our advice which is given with the experience of having to resolve issues for members and guests who have experienced problems after posting their mobile number, and do not include yours openly in your messages. |

Your security. We regularly receive requests from people who have posted a message and later regret having done so - usually, but not always, because they have included an open email address. There is an item in this section titled 'Protecting your Identity'. It has been continually displayed for a long time and gives help about such matters as including an email address other than in an open message. We remind again that search engines such as Google and Yahoo (and others) constantly trawl the entire internet gathering information. If your email address is openly displayed within a message it will be trawled. It can be removed from our website but it cannot be removed from elsewhere. Registered members can allow their email address to be visible when someone clicks on their Username. Registered members can also edit and delete any part of their message at a later date. Registered members can also send Private Messages to other Registered Members and if they choose withhold their real email address. Guest can also hide their email address so that it is only seen when someone clicks on their Username - by filling it in when they post their message. Guests cannot send private messages to Registered Members. For extra details read the 'Protecting your Identity' message within this Information Section. The bottom line - think before you commit yourself to post personal information, including email addresses. Our reminder here and long standing advice referred to here is for your own protection. If you choose to ignore the advice given then maybe you must accept any subsequent consequences as the role of the Moderators and Admin team does not include the removal of messages which are later regretted. ..and, of note, it is somewhat disappointing that of those helped as a matter of courtesy in recent times not one has responded to say 'thanks' so the desire to extend that courtesy isn't that forthcoming!! |

Software problem We are aware of a continuing software issue which prevents members from adding a picture to their profile: anyone trying to do so gets a continual error message indicated that the picture is too large. This has been drawn to the attention of our Webhost who is seeking a resolution. We are also aware of an issue still occuring following a Server problem in 2009 where some Profiles are hidden and members are experiencing difficulties. Again our Webhost is looking for a solution to this. When the problems are resolved we will post details in this section. |

Contacting others by Private Message or email Increasingly Guys are inviting others to contact them by email or private message when such facility is not available because of their status as a Member or a Guest. To clarify here is an extract from another message on this page about Identity Protection: Private messages can only be exchanged between registered members. Guests cannot send or receive private messages. Guests who wish to be contacted can either put their email address in the box beneath their Username when posting a message (there Username will then be underlined and clicking on it creates an email link) or put their email address in their message. Guests can only contact members who either include their email address in their profile or in their message. Members can only contact guests who have their Username underlined to give an email link, or who have included their email in their message. The status of a writer - whether they are a Registered Member or an Unregistered Guest - will be stated in the box beneath their Username |

We see that recently there have been quite a few examples where members have posted a message, realised they have omitted something or made a mistake so have posted a second, almost identical message with the additions/corrections included. On Gaybod (unlike many other websites) members can actually edit and/or delete their messages. Details of how this can be done are given in the tips below. Help with posting messages Message content Some recent messages included information concerning vehicles and locations which could possibly have identified individuals and have resulted in them becoming the object of abuse so please do not include personal details, vehicles details or even telephone/mobile numbers in messages however innocent it may seem as these details could cause serious problems for those concerned. Messages which include abusive and/or personal attacks on others or include derogatory remarks about others will be refused/edited/removed as appropriate. Removed items are retained out of public view and if writers are persistent with their abuse details will be forwarded to their Internet Service Provider for appropriate action which could include internet barring. If unsure where to post It you want to contact or meet others post your message in the MEET MEN section. The message will go straight onto the noticeboard. If you have information about a CRUISING SPOT - directions, warnings, best times etc. then post your message in the Cruising Information Section Guest postings will queue and wait until approved so will take longer to be displayed. Use of BLOCK CAPITALS. Please post your messages in standard lower case. BLOCK CAPITALS can cause problems with the format of your message and others in the thread and make them difficult or impossible to read. If you want to use the odd word in CAPITALS to emphasise a point that is OK. There are other ways of making your message different - See the section 'Using this Site'/Questions & Answers/How to make my message look different, for ideas. If you make a mistake Members who post a message and then find they have made a mistake or want to change something can do so. Just click on the EDIT icon in the top righthand corner of the message and an edit box will appear below the message with the message in it. Make the changes your require in the edit box, click 'Refresh Preview' to see if all is now OK, and if it is click on SAVE MESSAGE. Guests cannot do this. To DELETE a message click on the DELETE ICON (X) in the top right of the message and follow the prompts. Repeat messages Some members like to repeat their messages from time to time so that they appear within the last day or last week. Please delete the older messages by clicking on the delete icon in the top right hand corner of the old message and following the prompts. Guests cannot delete their messages. Private messages From time to time messages invite contact when it is not possible so, to clarify: Private messages can only be exchanged between registered members. |

Multi-posting As there has been an increasing tendency to post the same or similar messages in several different pages herewith a refreshed message of information which has been continually displayed in this section. Where the same or similar messages are posted several times those considered unnecessary are removed. Please post your message JUST ONCE in the most appropriate section/region. Most readers use the 'last day' or 'check new messages' option to view the Board and yours will be seen wherever you have placed it. There is no need to post the same message in several areas - indeed it is often the subject of complaint when readers find the same item time after time when reading the board - and it occupies space which could be used by others. If you do want to include other areas include something in the message like "willing to travel to...." or "often cruising in other areas nearby." |

Notifications by email - updated You will only receive notifications of messages if you have requested them - they are not sent automatically. Because you will have requested them they are not spam and should not be marked as such. If you do mark them as spam and we receive a complaint from your ISP we will advise them accordingly that you have received the items because you requested them and they are not unsolicited emails. In those circumstances your ISP may withdraw your internet service and we will suspend your membership of Gaybod, so, remember, notifications are sent on request only and are not spam. This advice is particularly important if your ISP is AOL as they monitor spam advice and will not take kindly to being advised that you are in recipt of spam when it is not actually spam. Be warned!! Setting up notifications Login to your profile and scroll down to the section 'Email Notification' Decide which pages you would like to receive notifications for - eg. 'Stories' Groups, Saunas etc. then for those pages click on the CHOOSE icon. This will display all the options available for that page - eg All the Stories, All the Groups. Tick the boxes of the individual items you want to receive notifications for then click SAVE and that selection for that page will be saved. So, say within 'Stories' you have ticked 'caught in the act', 'real lives' and 'sex at work' you will only notifications for stories in that category. Unfortunately the selection within "Cruising Information" and "Meet Men" can only be restricted to a Country eg. Britain, and it is not possible to select individual areas within the Country selected. If you do select Britain you may find you are overwhelmed with emails and if this is the case then return to your profile and remove that request. (Note the opening paragraph of this message - if you are overwhelmed remove the request, do not mark them as spam because they are not.) You may find the option 'Replies to my posts' will provide limited response. Cancelling notifications. To cancel any notifications login to your profile and uncheck all the requests you have made in the notifications section. To reach your profile go to the Gaybod Home Page and click on the 'login' icon towards the top right of the page. Follow the prompts to display your profile. If you have any problem contact admin@gaybod.com include your Username in the message and ask to have the notification request removed for you. |

Protecting you identity We have brought this piece of advice forward again because there has been an increase in the number of messages which show emails within the text. We don't say don't do it, but there are better ways of providing contact details without them being trawled and stored on Search Engines - so please read the tips below. ..and again, for those who continue to try it on, the use of mobile/telephone numbers in messages is not approved Hide your email address and personal details to prevent them being trawled by search engines so giving you better anonimity from both abuse and spam. Your email details can be available to view without being in your message - see below A reminder of the advice given elsewhere on the Noticeboard. Please do not include in your messages information which could put you, or others at risk of abuse or attack or information which could identify you or others to persons whose intent may be different to yours!! Things to avoid are publicly advertising things like mobile numbers, your vehicle details, and mode of dress: it has been necessary to edit a number of messages recently to remove such details in order to protect the writer. If you do want to pass information to others find ways of doing so privately - use email or private message where identities can be verified and if you are meeting someone retain those messages until after you have met and do the same if you exchange text messages with anyone you intend to meet. Our wish is for everyone to enjoy cruising and be safe and we hope the comments above may prompt you to take that little bit of extra caution when posting messages to ensure that it is. Remember - Search engines like Google and Yahoo trawl the internet and gather up just about everything going so, if you put personal details in a message it is quite likely that anyone doing a Google search and using keywords they know about you - such as email address - will be directed to your postings. How to put an email address outside a message - For discrete ways to show your email address without including it in a message - email details shown in messages leave you open to abuse from individuals and spammers MEMBERS - Allow your email address to be displayed in your profile then, in your message put a comment like 'click on Username to find email address' Remember you can still send private messages to other members, but not to Guests. GUESTS - Write your message, put in a Username, leave the password box empty because you don't have one, and put your email address in the email box - your Username will then appeared underlined. In your message put a comment like 'click on my name for email link'and anyone doing so is automatically taken to their email platform where they can send you an email to the address you have given. Despite the above being continually displayed (and brought forward today) we still receive requests from Guests to remove email addresses and other details displayed within messages because the writer later regrets including them. We will not remove them unless there are exceptional circumstances. NB - This applies to Guests only. Registered Members can always delete their own messages. |

Improved Search facility Messages in chosen number of days For Members only - messages since I last searched Find the 'Search' icon on the Home page - slightly left of centre on the second line of icons. Click on it to open the Search Board. In centre of Board use the 'Search by date' section. For recent posts check the 'recent posts' box and select how many days you want (Defaults to 3 but you can choose your own) Then click on the 'Perform Search' box at the bottom of the page. For Registered Members you have an additional option to view all the messages posted since your previous search. To do this: Check the 'Registered Users' box, complete your Username and Password then click on the 'Perform Search' at the base of the page. The system will remember your search UNLESS you check the box saying 'Don't remember this check' If you save the search the next time you ask it will only show you the new messages since your previous search. |

Password recovery - Members only Members who forget their password can recover details themselves. Go to the Gaybod/Cruisingground home page and click on 'login' (Top righthand corner) and when prompted enter your USERNAME then click on the password reminder request which is below the password box. This takes you to a second screen requesting your email address. Insert the email address which is registered on your account and click 'continue' to go to the next screen which will provide the opportunity to insert and confirm a new password. When you have done that click 'continue' and a confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address - as always, check your spam/trash box as well as your inbox. (NB It may not arrive instantly) When you get the email open it and follow the prompts to re-activate your membership with the new password. |
