Be aware......
If you Cruise in the Thetford area - just over the Suffolk Boundary and into Norfolk - please by alert at all times.
During the past month there have been a number of instances of vehicles being vandalised and windows smashed by groups of Guys riding
Motorcycles along the roads and through the tracks.
Particular note is Harling Drove Track 23 which is off the A134 about three miles west of Thetford.
Norfolk Police have indicated that they have received a number of reports and requests for Crime Numbers from people making a claim for damaged vehicles. |

Barton Mills, (A1065) and nearby Bury Road (A1101) are the two most popular spots
and featured on the header of this page, but there are others. |

Barton Mills A1065 & Bury Road A1101
Informed by reliable source that the midges have arrived - by their hoards.
This is a seasonal issued here and nearby in Bury Road because of the woodland shade and the nearby drainage ditches which is virtually stagnant water and an ideal breeding ground for insects.
Be prepared. Cover up and have a spray handy |

Barton Mills layby (A1065) - by toilets and Cafe
There have been reports of some recent incidents which you may wish to have in mind if you visit this location.
In each case the incidents occurred late at night.
The first involved vehicles being sprayed with some type of oily substance.
The second was the appearance of a trip wire across a pathway, not seen in the dark and resulting in a Guy being thrown to the ground.
If you do visit then be observant. If you see vehicles with Occupants who may be responsible for activities as above take as much information as you can and advise the Police.
If you have a dashcam keep the file with the recorded material. |

The Barton Mills area (Junction A1101/A1065/A11) remains a good area for cruising.
Daytime just half a mile east of Barton Mills roundabout (A1101) towards Bury St Edmunds is a busy layby used by trucks, cars and vans.
Often at its best 4.30pm to 6.00pm weekdays but varies.
Walk some distance into the woods for many secluded little spots for action.
Nightime usually best on the A1065 (Brandon Road) - in the layby where the toilets are and where trucks park overnight.
Not directly opposite, but not far off McDonalds and the Shell Petrol Station.
Again walk into the trees. |

There are two possibilities for you.
In Bury St Edmunds itself some action at the Lorry Park (Rougham Hill) off A14 Bury St Edmunds East junction. Follow the signs. Toilets in the park by the cafe and also some walking in the woods alongside. Obviously with care.
Second - a 30 minute journey up the A1101 to the Mildenhall area where there is a very active spot on the A1101 itself about half a mile before you reach the A11 and a second spot on the A1065 just off the A11 junction which is highlighted at the head of this page. |
