Any alternatives to Swaffham Woods yet?
Some suggest the Thetford area which is good with several spots to cruise but is a half hour drive away.

The nearest I know to Swaffham is a laybys east of Swaffham on the A47 as you approach Fransham..It is off road hidden from A47 with trees
Easily missed..On left heading towards Norwich

Swaffham Woods A1122 just off A47
I've followed the story about the upcoming closure of this very popular and busy cruising spot.
Confirmation has been given by the Forestry Commission that the closure is for extensive tree felling and once in operation this Spring access will be denied to all - including pedestrians.
Bad news - expected span for the works is up to the end of 2022 or even beyond.

For Pantielover
Are you referring to Swaffham Woods?
Most of the earlier messages are about Swaffham but this section is for the whole of Norfolk.

I know Swaffham Woods location very well and often visit - although not since Summer.
The entrance off the main road leads to fields and properties so closure would cause problems for farmers etc.
Historically it has been an escape route for thieves taking farm equipment.
A closure could be related to impending Forestry work perhaps.

As you are a Member you can delete your previous message [X] in top right corner of screen - and put in a fresh message confirming the location.

Thanks for your information - best wishes for the Festive Season.

Barriers have gone up not sure when the gate will be locked but still open at the moment. Looks like we are about to loose a good site.

Not been there for a while but know people who have.
Things are said to have calmed down but as my comments below is a very popular place during the daytime for dog walkers and hikers.
As for when - like everywhere it is hit and miss.
My own experience has shown it busy weekdays between midday and about 2pm
I can't advise on evenings or weekends.

Caution - Swaffham Woods
I have been told by a Local Cruiser that there have been issues here in the last few days - 22 March onwards.
Two cars, containing up to eight youths blocked the exit late at night and went searching in the woods for Guys and were very homophobic.
Two Guys ran some distance and eventually called the Police who arrived and the cars blocking the exit were moved on.
The following day - early afternoon - a full car of Lads and Girls drove through throwing stones at parked vehicles and shouting abuse.

Swaffham Woods - off the A1122 about one mile south of its junction with the A47 remains a very busy cruising area during the day and the night.
Cruising takes place just off the main road and right up to the top of the hill a quarter of a mile in.
Plenty of places to walk into the woods.

One big caution here - particularly if you visit after dark - is the state of the track which has potholes going almost to the centre of the earth!!

Also beware that in the daytime it is popular with dog walkers and sometimes with horse riders so discrete behaviour helps.
Police patrols do occur - sometimes as a result of indiscrete behaviour and to monitor the track which is used at times by thieves
as an escape route after theft of agricultural equipment from nearby farms.
